Assistant Professor

I am a digital media and video game studies scholar whose research focuses on how identity, technology, and political economics shape interactions between the video game industry and game consumers.

I received my Ph.D. in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have published research about video game culture and history in Game StudiesTransformative Works and Cultures, the Popular Culture Studies Journal, and In Media Res. I am also an Assistant Editor for the fan and audience studies journal Transformative Works and Cultures.

My current book project explores how inequitable access to computing and internet technologies have shaped the racialized dynamics of the esports and professional video gaming industries.
