Assistant Professor

Joe Wei (he/him) is an assistant professor of English at the University of Georgia. He has research interests in Asian American literature, literature and sociology, critical refugee studies, poetry and poetics, and game studies. He's currently working on his first book, Asian American Literary Organizing, 1970s to the Present, which investigates the role of Asian American literary organizations (Basement Workshop, Kearny Street Workshop, Kundiman, the Hmong American Writers' Circle, among others) in realizing and sustaining models of literary production outside of mainstream literary institutions.

Before arriving at UGA, Dr. Wei was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Research on Race & Ethnicity in Society at Indiana University-Bloomington.
