Dr. Pillai, Associate Professor and Director of the Arts and Humanities Global Experience Project at Coastal Carolina U, will be available to talk informally to Franklin faculty and administrators about the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) she has just proposed at her institution for “Communally Threaded Civic Engagement Activities to Enhance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for all at CCU,” an attempt to situate all CCU students’ education experiences within embedded practices of inclusivity. This QEP builds students’ intersectional engagement with the local & global community in multiple/varied environs. It notes the importance of recognizing that, Dr. Pillai writes, “diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) aren’t monolithic concepts to be paid lip service to or administered only from the top down. Toward that end, as proposed the QEP aims to implement varied and multiple intersectional activities to engage students in DEI practices from the ground up, creating embedded educational opportunities threaded throughout their university experiences.”
This lecture is supported by the Franklin College Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Department of English, the Mellon Foundation's Global Georgia Initiative at the Willson Center for Arts and Humanities, and the Women's Studies Program at the University of Georgia.
This lecture will be accompanied by two additional campus events presented by Dr. Tripthi Pillai:
