Faculty Research Areas

The curriculum offerings and examination possibilities of our graduate degrees have been combined into productive areas of thought, attractive to students in a wide range of interests—including students of historical literary areas; language, media, and textual studies; political and cultural studies; and creative work.  Additionally, the curricular groupings attend to a job market that increasingly requires multiple areas of scholarship beyond traditional historical periods. We call these areas our Thematic Arcs, and they are detailed at right.

Critical and Creative Specialties represent a more traditional grouping of research interests, but our Thematic Arcs are inclusive of multiple approaches, multiple periods, and multiple genres.
