Departmental Honors in English

English majors with an overall GPA of least 3.5 and a GPA of at least 3.75 in English classes that count towards the major at UGA may work towards Departmental Honors by fulfilling all of the following criteria: 

Complete an Area of Emphasis within the English major

Produce an excellent, 20-25 page piece of work for an undergraduate or graduate ENGL course or as part of a Directed Reading or Undergraduate Thesis in English

Present work at, or organize, an approved local, regional, national or international Undergraduate Conference (such as CURO) 

"Departmental Honors" will appear on transcripts but not on diplomas
